Energy III (Degreaser/Cleaner/Emulsifier)

TO MAKE WALLBOARD LINER

The principal process steps consist of the treatment of printed newsprint paper in slurry of 1 to 6% solids, containing from 0.2 to 0.33 (based on the weight of fibers) of ENERGY III at a temperature from 90 to 180 F, (preferably 120 F). This treatment is carried on in standard pulp defibering equipment or other agitating equipment for reducing the paper stock to substantially individual fibers. It is essential that the printed-paper have no substantial treatment (such as soaking) prior to being added to the solution containing ENERGY III. Thus, in the preferred form bales of newspapers will be merely untied and dumped, unshredded, into the solution. The de-inking by the above process has been found to be completed within whatever time is necessary to reduce the newsprint to substantially individual fibers thus requiring no more time in the paper stock preparation than would be required if there were no de-inking required.

It has further been found that the de-inking of the newsprint paper is in no way altered or deterred by simultaneous bleaching of the givers, such as by the additional presence in the slurry of sufficient sodium peroxide to provide a pH of from 9 to 10. A further important advantage of the process is its susceptibility to use with either hard or soft water.

Aside from the above-defined limited use of the bleaching agent, the use of any caustics is particularly avoided, in comparison to many prior processes where in excessive caustics were required and resulted in a degradation and yellowing discoloration of the fibers.

Following the above de-inking process, conventional pulp washing equipment is employed wherein the slurry is thickened and simultaneously washed with progressively fresher water or progressive washing screens. The flow should be directly into the defibering equipment, having therein a 120 + water solution of preferably 0.33% ENERGY III. This solution is kept replenished by the addition of half of the waste water of a first washing processing, discussed herein below, such additional fresh or white water as necessary and additional ENERGY III to maintain approximately a 0.33% solution.

The defibered pulp, reduced in form substantially to individual fibers and with the ink separated there from, is then subjected to a first washing using waste water from a subsequent second washing process. Approximately half of the wastewater of the first washing process is used as above described and the other half is disposed of. A second washing process follows using waste water from a third washing process; and a third washing process follows using clarified white water from a paper machine or fresh water. These washing processes are in accordance with prior pulp preparation practice.

Accordingly improved de-inking of waste newsprint is provided by a composition and temperature condition of the slurry maintained in the otherwise standard pulp defibering steps, followed by the usual pulp washing steps, a process thus readily adaptable to existing manufacturing facilities.

Paper, with the face piles manufactured from 100% waste newsprint, de-inked in accordance with the above process, has been found to have the characteristics of a manila lined chip board and, more specifically, to have purity and brightness sufficient to meet requirements for a gypsum wallboard front liner, providing cost saving in the manufacture of paper and consequently gypsum wallboard made there from. A gypsum wallboard, made in accordance with the process, includes a set gypsum core enclosed at least on the two faces thereof with paper, one liner thereof, intended as the exposed or front face, consisting of substantially 100% de-inked paper fibers.

PRINTING COMPANY

Cleaning slide where paper shoots down after printing and it is bundled up. The slide leads to the loading platform. They used to mix kerosene and paraffin (wax) to coat the sides and bottom of the slide, applying this mixture with a spray bottle - hand applied.

Replace the kerosene with ENERGY III (a solution of 50 parts ENERGY III to 50 parts water) added to the paraffin and then it is heated to 180 F. until the wax is solution. This is applied by a spray bottle.

The advantages include:

1. Non-Fuming and much better for the man who makes the application.
2. It is Non-Flammable or combustible
3. Decreases fire hazards and thus fire insurance requirements.
4. Much easier to clean up and no stains.

Use 1 part ENERGY III with 20 parts water to clean the glue (from tape) that sticks to the collators.

Use ENERGY III to 30 parts water in a squirt bottle to clean the ink from the collator cams.

The mailroom has eliminated the use of kerosene entirely.

FOOD PROCESSING APPLICATIONS - STEAM CLEANING

BSP ENERGY III is a concentrate that may be used in steam cleaners and other cleaning equipment used in all food processing areas and equipment (in any food processing capacity).

Use 1 to 2 pints ENERGY III in place of each 4 pounds of powder normally used in the steam cleaner, or 1 to 2 ounces per gallon at the nozzle of the steam gun. The concentration may be made as high as 1 part ENERGY III to 1 part water in the solution tank. This is possible because there are no powders in ENERGY III to fall out the bottom of the tank that subsequently clog small orifices and tubing, or create scale in the steam coils. A 1 to 1 solution is a highly concentrated solution that may be varied to fit any job by a single turn of a metering valve.

ENERGY III is safe on any surface that will tolerate steam. Because of its colloidal action, it will keep scale from forming in the steam coils and prolongs the life of the cleaning equipment.

ENERGY III is acceptable as a general cleaning agent, for use with steam or mechanical cleaning devices in all departments of official establishments operating under the U.S. Federal Meat, Poultry, Shell Egg Grading, and Egg Products Inspection Programs.

VINYL, PLASTIC, FORMICA, LEATHER, WOOD, CERAMIC, FIBERGLASS, IVORY, NAUGAHYDE, CHROME, CONCRETE, and any other surface that water will not damage may be cleaned with ENERGY III. Mixtures will depend on the degree of soil and the length of time it has been since thoroughly cleaned.

FURNITURE, UPHOLSTERY, CARPETS, and FABRICS may also be cleaned with our product. Spotting of tablecloths, napkins, etc. may also be done with the concentrated ENERGY III to prevent permanent stains.

SILVER, BRASS, and other ORNAMENTAL OBJECTS may be soaked in a 1-part ENERGY III to 20 parts water solution to remove light tarnish. Prolonged soaking will remove and release most tarnish so that polishes may work even better and bring out higher luster.

Because this product is PEOPLE SAFE, there is no need for special equipment, clothing, or protection in using it to clean. It is also an ideal product to use around food as it is in itself non-toxic and has passed the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (U.S.D.A.) requirements for use in food processing areas.

NOTE: Please refer to the specific cleaning categories in prior instructions for cleaning such surfaces as carpets, upholstery, walls, windows, etc.

ENERGY III may be used for SOAKING UTENSILS or FLATWARE before washing, resulting in a renewed shine and brilliance to their surfaces. 2 ounces of ENERGY III for each five gallons of water produces excellent results. Burned pots and pans may also be soaked in a solution of 1 part ENERGY III to 20 parts water.

ENERGY III is very effective in cleaning the exterior and interior of walk-in and reach-in reefers, with the additional benefit of inhibiting and in most cases, completely eliminating the formation of mildew. A dilution ratio of 1 part ENERGY III to 30 parts water should be used in this instance, and also for cleaning and wiping down all stainless steel appliances and surfaces. Steam tables, stockpots and coffee makers, likewise can be effectively cleaned at this dilution ratio, with no resulting scale in the steam tables, and with no remaining residue in coffee makers and other equipment so cleaned.

To clean OVENS AND FRYERS, best results are obtained by applying ENERGY III full strength or at a dilution ratio of 1 part ENERGY III to 10 parts water and heating the unit to a temperature of 200 to 300. If possible, let stand overnight and rinse down the following day using a stiff bristle brush, (if necessary). No gloves, mask, or other safety gear are required for personnel.

VENTS AND HOODS

ENERGY III is excellent for cleaning VENTS and HOODS over kitchen ovens and ranges. Since it is completely Non-Flammable, the danger of grease fires resulting from inadequately cleaned vents, etc., is greatly reduces. In oven hoods having build in "detergent" or cleaning compound applicators, ENERGY III is exceptionally effective and should be used 1 part ENERGY III to 5 parts water in the reserve tank. In such applications ENERGY III not only performs a superior job of cleaning, but additionally it will reduce kitchen odors, reduce a potential fire hazard and prevent the clogging and scaling of tubes, valves, and pumps, within the hood itself.

ENERGY III has been proven useful in relieving clogged SEWERS and DRAINS in numerous instances. However, since conditions vary from one situation to another, results will likewise vary. It is recommended that light ratios of ENERGY III to water be used initially, gradually increasing the ratio until satisfactory results are obtained, or until it becomes obvious that professional plumbing assistance is required.

As a GENERAL PURPOSE KITCHEN CLEANING AGENT, ENERGY III is ideal. In addition to the foregoing applications mentioned, it will effectively clean storeroom areas, food preparation and dispensing equipment (rinse thoroughly), counter areas, dishwashers, sinks, cupboards, restrooms, etc.

ENERGY III is an acceptable general cleaning agent for use with steam or mechanical cleaning devices in all departments of official establishments operating under the U.S. Federal Meat, Poultry, Shell Egg Grading, and Egg Product Inspection Programs.

THREADING STAINLESS STEEL PIPE

Use 1 part ENERGY III to 5 parts water as a lubricant when threading stainless steel pipe.

TAPPING BLIND HOLES IN MAGNESIUM

Use 1 part ENERGY III to 3 parts water - soluble oil as a lubricant.

ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT APPLICATIONS

ENERGY III may be used in cleaning electrical components and equipment very effectively. In the aerospace industry it may be used to clean printed circuitry in the nose cones of rockets.

ENERGY III may be used to clean electrical appliances and equipment. It is very effective in the he overhaul and repair of such items as adding machines, typewriters, calculators, cash registers, computers, and water meters, parking meters, telephone components, etc.

CAUTION: BSP ENERGY III should not be used to clean electric re-windings and coils as it is a water based AGENT.

ULTRASONIC CLEANERS OR DEGREASING DIP TANKS

ENERGY III may be used on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. For cleaning in an ultrasonic cleaner use 1 part ENERGY III to 30 parts water.

ENERGY III may be used in a dip tank cold solution at 1 part ENERGY III to 20 parts water. If water is heated to 160 F to 180 F, a dilution of 1 part ENERGY III to 15 parts water may be used.

MACHINE SHOP APPLICATIONS - CUTTING OIL ADDITIVE

As a coolant additive, use 1 part ENERGY III to 3 parts water - soluble oil. This will add lubricity to the coolant and will eliminate oil curds and congealing. It also keeps the sumps, parts, and pressure lines clean and clear.

SAW BLADE LUBRICANT

To increase the life and efficiency of metal cutting saws, use ENERGY III as a lubricant on the cutting edges. Cleaner cuts will be obtained without the loading effect, and the saw teeth will be less likely to bind.

ENERGY III has the lubricity needed to cut aluminum and the cooling effect needed to cut titanium.

STEAM CLEANER

ENERGY III is non-clogging, non-caking, and non-scaling and is highly effective for all steam cleaning applications. It contains a special blend of surfactants and sequestering AGENTS to lift soil and provide superior risibility.

Use 1 to 2 pints of ENERGY III in replacement of each 4 pounds of powder previously used, or 1/2 ounce per gallon at the nozzle of the steam gun. The concentration may be made as high as 1 part ENERGY III to 1 part water in the solution tank. This is true because there are no powders in our ENERGY III to fall out the bottom of the tank and subsequently clog small orifices and tubing, or creates scale in the steam coils. This highly concentrated solution may be varied to fit any job by a single turn of a metering valve.

ENERGY III is safe on any surface that will tolerate steam. Because of its colloidal action, ENERGY III keeps scale from forming in the steam coils. This reduces maintenance of the steam cleaner and nearly eliminating the need to pull apart the unit to clear and clean orifices and tubing.

INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS - PRESSURE WASH

ENERGY III provides a superior performance when combined with a high-pressure (warm, hot, or tap temperature) spray. Atomization poses no problem as the blend of ENERGY III is non-hazardous to people or clothing when utilized as directed.

In spray washing, best results have been obtained by the use of high pressure, low volume equipment, (e.g. 500-550 pounds pressure and a volume of 2-3 gallons per minute). The best spray nozzle to use is the 20-degree vee jet type.

The best method of application is to wet the surface to be cleaned with ENERGY III and water, and let stand until the soil on the surface is loosened. A solution of 1 part ENERGY III to 20 parts water has proven effective for most applications. However, concentration may very to fit the job.

Always start at the bottom of the vertical surface to be cleaned and apply the solution upward. The actual cleaning is accomplished by the rinse

Start the rinse operation at the top of the surface and rinse downward. Hold the spray nozzle of the gun approximately 6-8 inches from the surface at a 45-degree angle and move forward. This action causes the water to penetrate under the loosened soil and to roll it forward in front of the spray nozzle.

PETS AND VETERINARIAN HOSPITALS

Dogs, cats, horses, etc. can be bathed in compete safety in a solution of 1 part ENERGY III to 30 parts water. An easy way is to wet the fur, then shampoo as you would your own hair; pouring a small amount of the concentrate into fur and working up a lather. Rinse thoroughly. ENERGY III leaves fur soft and fluffy. Using ENERGY III also suffocates fleas, cleans cuts, and abrasions safely and effectively.

A positive side effect to the cleaning action of ENERGY III is that it kills fleas and causes ticks to back out. The killing of fleas and other insects is not caused by an insecticide or poison of any kind, but rather a suffocating action. It clogs the breathing pours located in the scales covering the insect and they die without poisoning. ENERGY III is a very safe way to relieve animals of these pests. The residual effect is minimal due to the fact that the animal is rinsed thoroughly. However, on sores or wounds, the concentrated ENERGY III can be rubbed onto the afflicted spot and fleas and flies will be repelled until the animal licks it off or it is washed or worn off. Since ENERGY III is non-toxic animals may lick themselves without adverse effect.

Where flies are a big problem around horses and other large animals, ENERGY III may be mixed with the insecticide solution (powder mixed with water) and a capful of Sloan's liniment for a very effectively fly killer that continues to repel flies long after the insecticide solution used alone would be ineffective. This solution should be sprayed on the animal using a fly spray, garden spray attachment at the end of a hose. Use 1 or 2 ounces of ENERGY III to the recommended solutions of the insecticide and add 1 ounce of Sloan's liniment.

Use in veterinarian hospitals includes washing instruments, operating tables, floors, pens and cages, and as a hand cleaner. It is effective in cleaning blood, helps keep drains clear and clean so effectively that bacterium is removed. Since no residual poison is left, it can be used with complete assurance and confidence. Since ENERGY III must come in direct contact with insects, there is no residual killing effect as there is in some insecticides. Use solutions of approximately 1 part ENERGY III to 10-20 parts water. ENERGY III is an excellent product to be used in pet shops and parlors because of its safety to both animals and handlers. Animal hair soaped with ENERGY III is soft and silky, easily combed out, and leaves hair smelling clean. Fleas are suffocated and rinsed out or the hair - dead. To cause ticks to back out, concentrated ENERGY III may be applied before soaping and allowed to sit for a time (BSP ENERGY III is safe to leave on the bare skin for indefinite periods).
